Mia Zanic Associate

Mia obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law societies of Canada, after completing her LLB Senior Status degree from the Queen’s University Belfast. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University, double majoring in English and French.

Mia articled at a national law firm in Vancouver before and was called to the Bar in 2023. Before joining Bernard LLP in 2026, Mia practiced in the area of civil litigation with a focus on personal injury law. Mia has extensive trial experience, having conducted numerous trials in the Supreme Court of British Columbia as lead counsel and co-counsel. She has appeared regularly in both judge’s and associate judge’s chambers on a variety of applications ranging in complexity.

Mia maintains a general litigation practice. She assists senior lawyers with a variety of legal problems.

Representative Cases

Murray v Doe, 2023 BCSC 918: This case involved a plaintiff who was injured in a motor vehicle accident. The Court found the defendant liable and awarded the plaintiff general damages, cost of future care, and special damages. Mia was only called to the Bar for 6 weeks when she successfully represented this plaintiff in court.

Other Interests

Outside of the office, Mia enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants, and going on long forest walks with her dog.
