Peter Swanson speaks at VMAA Seminar

Peter Swanson recently spoke at a lunch seminar hosted by the Vancouver Maritime Arbitrators Association on the subject of Waybills vs. Bills of Lading, including the recent Federal Court case involving the Ship “BF LETICIA”. The presentation focused on the historical requirements and features of a bill of lading, as distinct from a waybill. Peter discussed the importance of that distinction under Canadian law, particularly in relation to “a contract for the carriage of goods by water” and the application of provisions of the Marine Liability Act. The presentation was hybrid with attendees in person or on-line.
