David K. Jones appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia
Bernard LLP is very proud to announce that David K. Jones has been appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. His appointment was announced by the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.
Mr. Justice Jones was a founding member of Bernard LLP, becoming a partner shortly after the creation of the firm in 2002. His practice was litigation-based with an emphasis on maritime, regulatory and environmental law claims. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and has extensive court room experience having handled many cases through to trial. Mr. Justice Jones has also played a significant role in the leadership of the firm, having been a past managing partner, a teacher and mentor to our younger lawyers, and an important advisor to other senior lawyers working on more complex cases.
Outside of Bernard LLP, Mr. Justice Jones has given generously of his time, having served as Chair of the Provincial and National Maritime Law sub-sections of the Canadian Bar Association, and serving as Director and current Western Vice-President of the Canadian Maritime Law Association.
